Cathay’s cargo demand to North America ‘strong?

CathayÆs cargo demand to North America æstrongÆ    Cathay Pacific and sister airline Dragonair saw November volume rise 7.6 percent compared to the same month in 2008.
   The two airlines jointly carried 141,799 tons of cargo during the month, while their cargo load factor rose 12.3 percent to 76.8 percent. Capacity for the month was down 12.9 percent. For the year, tonnage has fallen 9.5 percent against a capacity reduction of 13.9 percent.
   'November saw continuing strong demand out of the Hong Kong and Shanghai markets, and the significant reductions in capacity helped to push up our cargo load factor to the highest seen so far this year,' said Titus Diu, Cathay Pacific general manager of cargo sales and marketing. 'Demand was particularly strong to North America and Europe and we were pleased to see further increases in yield. However, we remain cautious about the outlook for demand after the current seasonal peak.'
