Cathay’s September cargo up 6.3%

Cathay’s September cargo up 6.3%    Cathay Pacific carried 106,604 tons of freight in September, up 6.3 percent from the same month last year, and above a 5.9 percent rise in capacity.
   The Hong Kong airline’s cargo load factor for the month increased by 2.6 points to 71.3 percent.
   After nine months of the year, Cathay has moved 872,113 tons of cargo, up 7.8 percent from 808,961 tons moved in the same period 2005. The airline’s cargo load factor for the year so far has improved 1.7 points to 68 percent.
   “Throughout the month, demand out of southern China and Shanghai was very strong, particularly to the East Coast of the United States. We also introduced two new services, to Toronto and Stockholm. As a result, the outlook at the start of the peak season is reasonably optimistic,” said Ron Mathison, Cathay Pacific’s director and general manager cargo.
