CBP eliminates ACE bond rider

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Wednesday it will no longer require importers and customs brokers with periodic monthly statements to submit a bond rider to cover estimated duties and fees.

The new policy is effective immediately for Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) account holders.

Commissioner Robert Bonner announced the new rule Monday before the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America, but at the time did not give a specific date for the change.
