CBP finalizes manufacturer code for apparel imports    U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Thursday published a final rule that eliminates the need for a textile declaration to be submitted for textile and apparel products imports.
   However, to improve the reporting quality of textile and apparel imports, the agency will now require these importers to identify the overseas makers by providing a manufacturer identification code in their import entry submissions. The MID consists of the name and address of the entity performing the origin-conferring operations.
   The regulatory amendments adopted in this rulemaking reflect changes brought about, in part, by the Jan. 1, 2005 expiration of the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC) and the end to quotas on the entry of textile and apparel products from World Trade Organization, CBP said.
