CBP Miami gears up for hurricane season
U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Miami has prepared a hurricane plan for all of South Florida that includes Internet-based public communications in the event of a hurricane.
The Miami Field Office hurricane plan anticipates the possible contingencies for airports and seaports in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Key West, according to a bulletin from Harold Woodward, Miami-based director, field operations.
He said any impacted facility should be quickly returned to operation by following preplanned repair or relocation plans.
Any operational adjustments will be communicated to the trade community via the CPB Web site http://www.cbp.gov. Updates will be posted under 'News Room' on the main menu, and will include information such as which ports and CBP facilities are open or closed during a hurricane and in the aftermath.
Anyone with additional questions should contact acting assistant director, trade operations Gerard Russo at (305) 810-5125.
