U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced last week that the 2017 West Coast Trade Symposium will take place in Scottsdale, Ariz., outside of Phoenix, on May 24-25.
The popular event was held last year in Phoenix too.
CBP said more details and on-line registration will be available soon.
The Trade Symposium originally started as an annual event in Washington, D.C. more than a decade ago. The agency began holding a mid-year conference in California a few years ago to make it easier for compliance professionals on the West Coast to attend.
CBP uses the Trade Symposium as an outreach tool for informing the trade community about the direction of its trade enforcement and facilitation efforts and build good will with an important stakeholder group. The event allows trade specialists to hear program updates directly from CBP’s leadership, interact with government officials, and network with colleagues on subjects such as automation and modernization, trusted trader programs, broker regulation, coordination with other government agencies on import and export processing, and cargo security.
