CBP says Virgin Islands recruiting successful

CBP says Virgin Islands recruiting successful U.S. Customs and Border Protection said its two recruiting events held in the U.S. Virgin Islands last week were successful, meeting the goal of promoting local hiring to backfill officer needs in St. Thomas and St. Croix.
   CBP had national recruiters, human resources personnel and officers working as a team to give potential applicants first-hand information about the CBP mission, the different jobs available within the agency, and details on benefits and career development.
   Officials said nearly 850 interested candidates attended the events. Response was so strong that the recruitment team had to open doors early to deal with all the candidates.
   'We look forward in processing these applications and have those selected be part of the CBP workforce' CBP field operations director Marcelino Borges said. 'I am sure we will find many qualified candidates in the U.S. Virgin Islands and CBP will greatly benefit by hiring local USVI residents to enhance the safety and security of our homeland.'
