CBP uses stimulus funds on inspection equipment    U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued eight contracts worth $88 million for non-intrusive imaging machines to inspect commercial vehicles at and between ports of entry, the Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday.
   The money for fixed and mobile inspection systems comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act enacted in February to jump-start the economy with government spending.
   DHS has obligated 63 percent, or $1.7 billion, of its $3.5 billion in stimulus funds through Sept. 30.
   Last March, DHS announced that Congress appropriated $100 million to replace about 20 pieces of older non-intrusive inspection equipment used to scan containers and trailers.
