CCN joins IATAÆs e-freight preferred partner scheme
Cargo Community Network, a Singapore-based provider of Internet portal services to the air freight industry, has become a preferred partner in the International Air Transport Association's global e-freight program.
IATA's long-term vision is for paperless e-freight and e-customs services to replace the current paper-based processes in the air cargo industry. The Geneva-based association estimates that the average shipment results in more than 30 documents being exchanged between various parties including, shippers, freight forwarders, handling agents, import/export brokers and customs.
CCN's cargo portal enables handle e-invoicing and payment, as well as distributing neutral waybills electronically.
'As one of our partners, CCN will help develop global systems for trading partners, which will lead to significant industry cost savings and add value to the e-freight solutions to be offered,' said Aleks Popovich, global head of cargo at IATA.
CCN also has operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
