CCNI signs new agreements for IAS supply chain visibility services Santiago, Chile-based shipping firm CCNI has signed a multiyear agreement with Oakland, Calif.-based software-as-service provider International Asset Systems to provide CCNI with greater control and visibility over its equipment throughout the supply chain.
   The agreement will see CCNI, a subsidiary of the Empresas Navieras group, implement the IAS CleanSource service. The two also signed additional agreements expanding and extending CCNI's use of IAS's EquipmentRepair, InterChange and SlotXChange services.
   CleanSource provides data streams on container events, increasing visibility of equipment in the supply chain. The agreement also cements IAS as the exclusive data provider for CCNI's online container tracking for its customers. CCNI had manually monitored container events.
   CCNI has been an IAS customer since the 2003 implementation of IAS's EquipmentRepair service to run the shipping firm's global maintenance and repair program, including the full networking of CCNI's 110 repair facilities around the world.
   Under terms of the agreements, IAS will connect an additional 200 CCNI terminals and depots worldwide and provide real-time data streams on container events including vessel load and discharge and facility gate in and out. The information is provided to CCNI customers through the firm's online Web tracking service.
   'It is essential that we know how many containers are available for customers at any given time. As a mid-sized ocean carrier, we must differentiate ourselves to our customers by getting them the information they need about their shipments,' said Mauricio Concha, CCNI's vice president of container logistics.
   InterChange is a worldwide container exchange service, and SlotXChange facilitates vessel slot exchanges around the globe.
   Financial details of the new agreements were not released.
