Cenargo International Plc, the British shipping group which owns the
roll on/roll off Irish Sea operators Merchant Ferries and Belfast Freight Ferries, has
completed the acquisition of Norse Irish Ferries Ltd.
Norse Irish Ferries, previously owned by Grover Star Shipping Corp.,
operates a twice-daily ferry service which carries both passenger and freight traffic
between Liverpool, England, and Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The purchase has been vetted by the U.K. Department of Trade and
Industry.
Cenargo said that it will now have a significant share of the Irish Sea
market but will continue to compete with P&O, Stena and Irish Ferries.
