CENSUS, CUSTOMS TO DISCUSS AES WITH PACIFIC COAST COUNCIL

   The U.S. Census Bureau and Customs will host a meeting about the
Automated Export System with industry on the West Coast Oct. 27, the day before the Pacific Coast Council’s annual Western cargo Conference in San Diego.
   The meeting will review the various filing options for submitting shippers export declaration to AES. Other aspects of discussion will include AESDirect.gov Internet service and the Sea Carrier module.
   The Pacific Coast Council was one of most outspoken against the early design plans of AES and had recommended changes to the system, which are largely included in the final version today, said a senior Pacific Coast Council member.
   There are about 220 export declaration filers using AES, which represent the shipments of about 26,000 U.S. exporters.
