CEVA Logistics on March 1 appointed Coen van der Maarel as global sector director consumer goods and retail.

With more than 20 years in the logistics industry, van der Maarel joins CEVA from United Kingdom firm Christian Salvesen, where he was managing director for mainland Europe. Prior to that, he worked for Tibbett & Britten, Exel and later DHL Exel.

With van der Maarel’s appointment, CEVA said it has completed the organization supporting its global strategy focus on supply chain solutions for three industry sectors:

' Automotive, headed by Jeff Hurley.

' Technology, led by Jan Martin Witbreuk.

   ' Consumer goods and retail.

'Until recently, the consumer goods and retail sector was stagnant,” said Pierre Girardin, group director strategy and contract logistics business development. “Now, with the integration of CEVA Contract Logistics and Freight Management capabilities, and with the arrival of Coen, the company will place greater focus on the dynamic development of one of the largest sectors in the global logistics market.'

Van Maarel will be based in CEVA's head office in Hoofddorp, in the Netherlands.
