CHAMP looks to tap forwarder market

After a successful 2012, officials at information technology provider CHAMP CargoSystems expect to roll out several new features and products throughout the year.
Details on the new programs have not yet been released.
“Probably most significant will be products directly addressing the forwarder market, further bringing together our global community of users via connected thinking,” CHAMP’s James Fernandez said in a statement. “I am convinced that there will be a strong focus on ‘core’ business, cost containment, quality improvement, and innovation to go paperless this year.”
Fernandez is hoping customers will be drawn to CHAMP’s community software as a service program that frees up forwarders from having to buy their own solutions.
These new products will meet what CHAMP officials see as a growing demand for the company’s services. On the airline side, officials signed up a dozen new clients last year for CHAMP’s eCargo suite and other products, with one new client signing up for the company’s Web-based cargo application, cargoWEB+, this month. – Jon Ross
