Changes made to Asia New Zealand Express

Starting Nov. 14 vessels will depart from the origin port Shanghai instead of Hong Kong, and cease calling ports Noumea and Suva.    According to schedule analysis of the Asia New Zealand Express (ANZEX) service, starting Nov. 14 vessels will depart from the origin port of Shanghai instead of Hong Kong, and cease calling ports Noumea and Suva.
   Carriers CSCL and Pacific Direct Lines will also join the service. 
   Seven vessels with an average capacity of 4,250 TEUs will continue sailing on a 49-day rotation, French liner carrier CMA CGM said. According to BlueWater Reporting, this will increase current average vessel capacity 70 percent , up from 2,503 TEUs. 
   The new port rotation for ANZEX will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Kaohsiung, Brisbane, Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, Napier, Tauranga, Hong Kong, Shekou, Keelung and Shanghai.
   Carriers operating and offering slots on ANZEX along with CMA CGM are ANL, OOCL, PIL and US Lines.
   Before service changes, seven vessels with an approximate total capacity of 17,522 TEUs sailed on a 49-day rotation. Five vessels were operated by CMA CGM and two by OOCL. The port rotation was Hong Kong, Chiwan, Keelung, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Suva, Auckland, Port Chalmers, Lyttleton, Napier, Tauranga, Noumea and Hong Kong.
   CMA CGM said in a statement it plans to offer calls to Fiji and Noumea on a different service.
   According to BlueWater Reporting, CMA CGM purchases slots and/or operates vessels on 10 other services specifically conducting trade between Asia and Oceania.
