Chemical distributor to use Transplace TMS

   The third party logistics company and truck brokerage Transplace said Wednesday the chemical distributor Brenntag will use its proprietary software-as-a-service (SaaS) transportation management system (TMS) to improve supply chain visibility and operational efficiencies.
   Linking chemical manufacturers and users, Brenntag provides business-to-business distribution solutions for industrial and specialty chemicals globally. The company has more than 10,000 products for a global supplier base, and more than 170,000 customers.
   “We wanted a solution that would automate Brenntag’s transportation management activities and drive continuous improvement and savings throughout our organization,” said Dan Letscher, supply chain manager at Brenntag. “Transplace’s SaaS solution gives Brenntag the optimal technology to optimize our supply chain operations, increase visibility and better serve our customers.”
   Brenntag will be able to manage inbound transportation from domestic vendors to its regional operating facilities and outbound shipments to all customer locations. Transplace’s TMS will also help Brenntag optimize its transportation network, view shipments in real-time, and manage the freight audit and payment process.
