CHEP manages SAS’s air cargo equipment

Scandinavian Airlines has appointed CHEP Aerospace Solutions to supply and manage its air cargo equipment, or Unit Load Devices (ULDs), under a five-year contract.
CHEP provides SAS with containers and pallets from its global pool of more than 45,000 ULDs, removing the cost and hassle for SAS to position, repair and manage its own fleet.
SAS will have an option to transition to using lightweight containers supplied from CHEP’s pool, allowing the airline to reduce fuel emissions, helping the environment at the same time as reducing costs.
“Contracting with CHEP Aerospace Solutions provides SAS the flexibility we need to focus upon our core business of flying passengers and cargo,” Kenneth Fuhrmann, SAS director of network and revenue management, said in a statement. “CHEP proved itself to have the resources and systems to manage our needs. We look forward to our future cooperation.”
