China bans dangerous cargo through Three Gorges Dam    Navigation authorities in central China are prohibiting vessels carrying dangerous cargos from passing through the Three Gorges Dam area for 10 days starting from Sept. 28.
   The measure, according to a report from the state-owned news agency Xinhua, is to prevent safety risks around the National Day celebration period. The massive dam, which was largely completed in 2008, spans the widely shipped Yangtze River in China's Hubei province.
   The river navigation administration said the prohibition was specifically aimed at curbing pollution and terrorist events during the 10-day period. The administration said it would undertake strict safety exams, with vessels carrying 'top-class dangerous goods' banned from passage.
   The report did not identify which goods fall under the 'top-class dangerous' categorization.
