China has shortage of logistic pros
China has a shortage of logistics professionals despite the rapid expansion of its logistics industry and an explosion in programs at universities, according to a report by the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
A report from China's Xinghua’s news agency said the academy's report found Chinese and foreign-funded companies are having difficulty finding senior managers and workers in the logistic industry.
The report noted that in 2001, only one university in China offered a specialized course in logistics but by 2005 the number had grown to 165.
But the report found courses focus on academic studies and lack opportunities for practical experience. The authors are suggesting more on-the-job training.
