China plans to “blacklist” unsafe food shippers
The Chinese government released a five-year plan this week that it said will crack down on shippers of unsafe food products.According to a news report in Thursday's South China Morning Post, the plan includes publishing a “blacklist” of these shippers. The Chinese government also plans to develop an electronic system to better trace and recall food exports, the newspaper said.
The plan is largely the result of China’s global condemnation of tainted wheat gluten, cough syrup and toothpaste exports.
