China Shipping adds 4 cranes at L.A. terminal    China Shipping has completed the second phase of an expansion project at the container terminal it operates in the Port of Los Angeles, doubling the number of ship-to-shore cranes and adding 18 acres of terminal space.
   The terminal now has eight quay cranes, with two more to eventually be added, allowing the terminal to handle 1.5 million TEUs per year. Part of the project finished this week was the addition of a truck bridge connecting China Shipping's West Basin Container Terminal (WBCT) and a nearby terminal operated by a joint venture between Yang Ming and China Shipping.
   WBCT handles calls from China Shipping, Yang Ming, 'K' Line, COSCO, Hanjin, Sinotrans and Zim.
   The terminal was the first container berth in the world to employ cold-ironing, where vessels use shore-side electricity to power onboard systems while docked.
