China Shipping adds 8,500-TEU ship into Asia/Europe trade

   China Shipping Container Lines has phased in its newly delivered 8,468-TEU vessel “CSCL Oceania” to its weekly Asia/Mediterranean/North Europe “AEX” service.

   The “CSCL Oceania” made its maiden voyage on the service when it departed from Shanghai Dec. 3. It is the sister vessel of “CSCL Europe,” which joined the “AEX” service in August following delivery from Korean shipbuilding-yard Samsung.

   The “AEX” service now uses eight ships averaging 6,683 TEUs and calls at Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Port Kelang, Malta, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Port Kelang, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.

   CMA CGM, Sinotrans Container Lines and Zim Integrated Shipping Services all take space on the “AEX service.
