CHINA SHIPPING AND CMA CGM AMEND TRANSPACIFIC SLOT EXCHANGE

CHINA SHIPPING AND CMA CGM AMEND TRANSPACIFIC SLOT EXCHANGE

China Shipping Container Lines and CMA CGM are revising the terms of their slot exchange, sailing and cooperative working agreement in the transpacific trade.

The proposed amendment, filed with the Federal Maritime Commission, reduces the number of vessels to be deployed under the agreement from 22 to 10.

A spokesman for CMA CGM said that the amendment follows a decision by CMA CGM to split its former 12-ship Europe/Asia/U.S./Asia/Europe MEX-TPX pendulum service into a transpacific loop and a Mediterranean/Asia service, and a move by China Shipping to restructure its “AAS” transpacific service, marketed by CMA CGM as the Shanghai Express service.
