China Shipping spends $20.7 million on new containers

   China Shipping Container Lines (Asia) Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipping Group, has agreed to buy an aggregate 13,000 TEUs worth of containers from Dong Fang International Container (Lianyungang) Co. Ltd. for a purchase price of $20.7 million.

   “The group is in great need of additional containers to support its increased shipping volumes at this stage,” China Shipping said.

   DFIC is also a wholly owned subsidiary of China Shipping Group.

   The containers are to be delivered over the next seven days. The order includes:

   * 5,000 20-foot general-purpose containers costing $1,720 each.

   * 1,000 20-foot general-purpose containers at $1,770 each.

   * 1,000 40-foot general-purpose containers at $2,832 each.

   * 2,500 40-foot general-purpose high type containers at $3,009 each.
