China Southern first Chinese Cargo 2000 airline

   China Southern Airlines has become the first air carrier from mainland China to join Cargo 2000, an initiative to halve the number of individual processes in the air cargo supply chain.
   China Southern is the 30th international airline to join Cargo 2000, which has more than 80 airline, freight forwarder, ground handler, trucking company and IT provider members.
   A SkyTeam Cargo member, China Southern operates a fleet of five Boeing 777-200 freighters and two 747-400 freigthers and plans to introduce a further 777-200 cargo plane by the end of the year. The airline currently offers six freighter routes from Shanghai to Los Angeles, Vancouver, Chicago, Amsterdam, Vienna and Frankfurt and from Guangzhou to Amsterdam, with a total of 26 flights a week.
   In addition to China Southern, Cargo 2000’s airline membership includes AirBridgeCargo Airlines, Air Canada, Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, British Airways, Cargo Airlines Ltd, Cargolux, Cathay Pacific, Delta Airlines, Egyptair, Etihad, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, Korean Airlines, Lufthansa, Martinair, Polar Air Cargo, Qantas, Qatar Airways, SAS, Saudi Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Swiss WorldCargo, Turkish Airlines, United Airlines, and Virgin Atlantic.
