Cimetra deploys EDI for document sharing

Third party logistic company Cimetra has added in a new electronic data interchange (EDI) service to improve the efficiency of its ability to send documentation between buyers and suppliers.
The EDI system will allow Cimetra to send documentation and product information over a secured network, eliminating the need for paper documents altogether.
The technology investment will allow the Nashville, Tenn.-based warehousing company to provide its customers with timely information regarding the status of their inventory and shipments. The company also noted that EDI reduces document costs and environmental waste related to using paper.
“By switching to this new e-commerce fulfillment resource we can accommodate all of our customers’ shipping and inventory needs faster and more effectively,” said Cimetra Chief Executive Officer Melanie Guay. “EDI allows us to give customers on-demand access to information on products they have coming in and out of each Cimetra warehouse over an electronic network.”
The EDI framework Cimetra is using is part of a global standard, allowing for easy exchanges with a wide range of partners.
