CITY BIRD TERMINATES FREIGHTER CONTRACT IN AFRICA

City Bird, a Belgian airline that plans to boost its international cargo
presence, has terminated an Airbus A300-600 wet-lease contract with Lignes Aeriennes
Congolaises, the national airline of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
City Bird said "the threat of violence in the Congo and repeated
violations of the partnership agreement are generating a climate of great
legal insecurity and have forced City Bird to take this action."
City Bird and LAC entered into a five-year agreement in March. City Bird had
been flying passenger and cargo flights between Europe and Kinshasa using a B767 and the
A300-600 freighter. All flights were operated under LAC flight numbers.
