CKYH drops Houston, adds Charleston, Norfolk to Asia/East Coast service

CKYH alliance carriers, COSCO, “K” Line, Hanjin Shipping and Yang Ming, have changed the U.S. port rotation for its all-water Asia/U.S. East Coast service, AWE-5, due to start next week.

Originally, the service was to call at Savannah, Miami and Houston, but will instead call at Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk and then Miami. The service will have a 22-day transit time from Shanghai to Savannah.

The alliance also said it plans to increase the number of calls to Charleston and Norfolk on its four existing Asia/U.S. East Coast loops.

The AWE-5 service will use eight ships averaging 4,000 TEUs vessels with a revised port rotation of: Hong Kong, Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, Miami and back to Hong Kong.

The 3,607-TEU vessel “Barcelona Bridge”, operated by “K” Line, will start the AWE-5 when it departs Hong Kong July 5.
