CKYH pulling all-water service for winter

CKYH – the Green Alliance is set to shelve one of its transpacific services for the winter as of Sept. 28.
The member lines – COSCO Container Lines, “K” Line, Yang Ming, and Hanjin Shipping – will suspend their AWE-6 all-water service from Asia.
The service has a rotation of Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston, and Yantian. According to American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data, the service is operated with nine vessels (three each from COSCO and Hanjin, two from “K” Line, and one from Yang Ming) with an average capacity of 4,181 TEUs.
The AWE-6 is one of four all-water services operated by the alliance, the single biggest provider of capacity on the transpacific trade. The service was reintroduced by the CKYH carriers in May as part of a restructuring of their Asia-U.S. East Coast network. – Eric Johnson
