Cleveland port chief resigns

Press reports indicate the president and chief executive officer of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority resigned on Friday.

Both the Cleveland Plain Dealer and WKYC Channel 3 in Cleveland reported on Friday that the agency’s board of directors accepted Adam Wasserman’s resignation at a closed-door meeting.

The television station quoted from a statement that said, “the resignation comes as part of a mutual agreement by the board and Wasserman that a change in leadership at the port authority is appropriate at this time. A national search for a new CEO will begin immediately.”

The statement also said that under the guidance of the board, Chief Financial Officer Brent Leslie will oversee day-to-day operations until a new chief executive officer is in place.

Wasserman became the agency's chief administrative officer in 2007.
