CMA CGM ADDS LAST BIGGER SHIP TO NCX SERVICE

CMA CGM has introduced the 4,367-TEU “CMA CGM Puget” into its Asia/Europe “NCX” container service.

The introduction of the new vessel, built by the Korean shipyard Hanjin Heavy Industries, completes the upgrading of this service to a homogeneous fleet of nine vessels of 4,000-4,400-TEU capacity and 24-knot speed.

The “CMA CGM Puget” replaces a smaller vessel of about 3,350-TEU capacity in the NCX service.

In a related development, CMA CGM said that the eight 5,770-TEU containerships it has recently ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries, due to be delivered in 2004, will replace the existing 4,000-4,400-TEU ships in the NCX service.
