CMA CGM (America) to appoint Wats president

CMA CGM (America) to appoint Wats president

   Anil Wats will be appointed president of CMA CGM (America) when John van de Merwe, the current president, moves to CMA CGM’s headquarters in France during the first quarter of 2004.

   Wats will be based at the North American organization’s Secaucus, N.J. Head office, from early November. CMA CGM (America) said that he will be working closely with van de Merwe during the transition process.

   Wats will report to van de Merwe, who will retain the oversight for North American activities and take up additional responsibilities.

   Wats was most recently managing director for the Maersk group in the Middle East, based in Dubai. His previous senior management positions included positions as managing director for Maersk in Indonesia and general manager for the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent with Sea-Land Service.

      Ranked as the fifth largest container shipping company, CMA CGM is operates over 140 vessels in 54 different trade routes, with annual revenues of 2.5 billion euros ($2.9 billion).
