CMA CGM connecting Asia, North Africa via Malta

CMA CGM connecting Asia, North Africa via Malta    CMA CGM will next month start a dedicated weekly service between Asia and Malta, its Mediterranean hub port, to connect to ports in North Africa.
   The North Africa Express will operate with seven ships of 3,000 TEUs calling Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Jakarta, Malta, Port Kelang, Jakarta, Chiwan and back to Shanghai.
   From Malta, the French line will connect to ports in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya. CMA CGM said the service would offer transit times such as 21 days from Chiwan to Algiers or Shanghai to Tripoli in 24 days.
   The first voyage of the new service will be made by the CMA CGM Jasmin from Shanghai on June 15.
   'This new service between Asia and North Africa is one of a kind on the market. It confirms our willingness to offer our North African customers a high performance service,' said Philippe Borel, CMA CGM's deputy vice president of short lines-North Africa services.
