CMA CGM gets 13,000-TEU for Asia/Europe loop

CMA CGM gets 13,000-TEU for Asia/Europe loop    CMA CGM said Thursday it has taken delivery on another behemoth containership, this one a 13,830-TEU vessel from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in South Korea.
   The new ship, christened the CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci, will join CMA CGM's new big-ship joint loop with Maersk Line connecting the Far East with northern Europe, a service the French carrier calls FAL 5. The 10-ship service, which now has seven 13,000-TEU vessels, has a rotation of Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelapas, Port Klang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Klang, Singapore and Ningbo.
   The lines said in May, when the service was announced, that the entire loop would eventually be operated with 13,000-TEU ships as they take new deliveries.
