CMA CGM launches intra-Med service

The French ocean carrier earlier this month commenced its West Med-East Med service, which operates with four CMA CGM containerships.

French ocean carrier CMA CGM launched its West Med-East Med (WEMED) service earlier this month.
The weekly loop has a rotation of Marseille, Barcelona, Valencia, Malta, Mersin, Iskenderun, Beirut, Alexandria, Malta, Algiers and Marseille.
A total of four CMA CGM operated vessels are deployed on the WEMED: the 1,209-TEU Corona J, the 1,674-TEU Mediterranean Sea, the 1,584-TEU Merkur Cloud and the 1,730-TEU Rita Schepers, according to CMA CGM’s online proforma.
“The WEMED line offers the only direct and weekly connection from Mersin, Istanbul, Beirut and Alexandria to Algiers,” CMA CGM said.
In addition, the carrier said the loop offers some of the best transit times from Southern Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean, linking Valencia to Turkey in seven days and Marseille to Turkey in nine days.
