CMA CGM officially disposes of Delmas brand

Delmas, which was acquired by the CMA CGM Group in 2006, officially began operating under the CMA CGM name yesterday.    Ocean carrier Delmas, which specializes in maritime shipping to and from sub-Saharan Africa, has officially been dissolved into the CMA CGM brand as of yesterday, March 1, 2016.
   All previous bookings will still be carried out under the Delmas name, but any future bookings will be handled by CMA CGM.
   First announced back in December, the switch allows the CMA CGM to unify all of its maritime activities to and from Africa into one brand as well as continue its development and provide customers with enhanced services, the company said at the time.
   The CMA CGM Group acquired Delmas as a subsidiary line in January 2006.
   In addition to Delmas, CMA CGM Group’s other subsidiary shipping companies include ANL, CNC Line, U.S. Lines, MacAndrews, OPDR and Comanav.
   The CMA CGM Group also in December announced plans to acquire Neptune Orient Lines, the parent company of APL, for $2.4 billion.
