CMA CGM to christen 9,400-TEU container ship
CMA CGM Tuesday will hold a christening ceremony for its 9,400-TEU ship “CMA CGM Fidelio”, which the French carrier said is the world’s largest container ship flying the French flag.
The vessel was built by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries, measures 349 meters (1,145 feet) in length and can reach speeds of 24 knots. Ellen MacArthur, the world’s fastest solo round-the-world sailor, will be guest of honor at the ceremony in Marseilles.
The “CMA CGM Fidelio” will be deployed on CMA CGM’s joint weekly Asia/Europe service with China Shipping, FAL 2/AEX 7, due to start August.
