CN, CANADIAN AUTO WORKERS REACH TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

Canadian National reached a tentative collective agreement with the Canadian Auto Workers union, ending the threat of a strike at CN's Canadian operations yesterday.

Details of the new three-year contract were not disclosed, pending ratification by the CAW's 5,000 CN members. CN said the agreement provides for wage increases, benefit improvements and increased productivity.

The union represents CN's shopcraft forces, customer service representatives, intermodal yard employees and clerical workers.
