CN TAPS i2 TO IMPROVE INTERMODAL OPERATIONS    Canadian National has purchased supply chain planning and management software and services from i2 Technologies Inc. to improve management of the rail carrier’s intermodal business.
   CN Intermodal will implement i2's demand planning and forecasting and supply chain planning software. Intermodal transportation is CN’s fastest growing business segment, expanding 14 percent year-over-year so far in 2000, CN said.
   The new technology will allow the intermodal unit to respond faster to customer service needs and will also facilitate business relations with shippers, the railroad said.
   The CN contract is i2's first major step into the rail industry.
