CN to keep rolling if conductors strike Canadian National Railway Co. said Wednesday it would maintain its freight operations across Canada if constructors go on strike this Saturday.
   CN said it was notified about the planned strike action on Tuesday by the United Transportation Union (UTU), which represents about 2,800 CN conductors and yard-service employees in Canada, although the union said on its Web site that it 'has not authorized a strike against CN or any other Canadian property.'
   'CN and the UTU remain in negotiations, and we believe there is time to reach agreement on a new collective agreement before the strike deadline,' said E. Hunter Harrison, CN's president and chief executive officer.
   'But let me be clear — we will continue freight operations across Canada during a UTU strike, with management personnel performing UTU-represented jobs, and provide the best possible service in the circumstances. This plan is essential to our customers and the Canadian economy,' Harrison said.
   The UTU strike will not affect other unionized employees in Canada, CN said.
