Coast Guard: Ship master appeared intoxicated

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port for Puget Sound, Wash., issued an order requiring the cargo vessel STX Daisy to remain at anchor in Port Angeles, Wash., Wednesday.

During a routine boarding of the vessel in the Strait of Juan de Fuca early Wednesday morning, the Coast Guard said it found the vessel's master showed signs of intoxication.

The 587-foot Panamanian flagged vessel was en route to Olympia, Wash., from Qingdao, China, to load timber.

The U.S. Attorney's office is investigating the incident for evidence of a possible violation of U.S. law.
