Cochin being added to India-U.S. East Coast loop

Carriers operating the weekly U.S. East Coast/Indian Subcontinent IDX service will add calls to India's Port of Cochin and Port Said in Egypt, starting Jan. 5.

The new port calls coincide with OOCL, Evergreen and Italia Marittima joining Emirates Shipping Line, Shipping Corp. of India, and Zim on the loop, which started in May.

The IDX service deploys eight vessels, each with a capacity between 2,500 and 2,600 TEUs. The revised port rotation covers New York; Norfolk, Va.; Charleston, S.C.; Barcelona, Spain; Port Said, Egypt; Colombo, Sri Lanka; India’s Tuticorin, Cochin, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra; Barcelona; and back to New York.
