Comment period for mandatory SNAP+ extended

Comment period for mandatory SNAP+ extended

The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security has extended the comment period for proposed mandatory electronic filing of export license application submissions until Feb. 12.

On Nov. 12, the agency proposed mandatory use of its Simplified Network Application Processing System+ (SNAP+). In addition to license applications, the Bureau of Industry and Security will require mandatory automated filings of classification requests, encryption review requests and license exception notices.

The original deadline for comments was set for Jan. 12. The new deadline will give the industry additional time to comment, the agency said.
