Commentary: An American Shipper columnist’s farewell

   Last year, I retired and I’m about to retire again, and this time from writing for American Shipper. I’ve been writing a regular column for the publication for a couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But it’s time to pass the pen to someone more active in the field.
   It’s too bad that more people in our industry don’t write. I did it, because it was fun and interesting and for the responses that came to me from American Shipper readers. Besides, it looks pretty good on a resume.
   Over the years, I’ve written many articles for magazines, newspapers and internal-use corporate newsletters. Looking back, I see improvements that could be made in each of my articles, but that’s as it should be — if you read something you wrote two years ago and still like it, perhaps you haven’t learned much in the interim. So, with special thanks to American Shipper and the readers who responded to my columns, I’m taking one more step to really retiring.
