Comments on Pier S soon to close

Interested parties have until Dec. 2 to file comments associated with the environmental impact of the proposed $650 million development of a modern container terminal on Terminal Island in the Port of Long Beach.
The Pier S is planned for construction on a vacant, 160-acre section of the man-made island.
The port authority released the draft environmental impact statement and supporting documents on Sept. 16, analyzing the impacts of the proposed development, and steps that will be taken to mitigate the impact on the environment.
Written comments can be submitted until 4:30 p.m, Friday to Richard D. Cameron, Director of Environmental Planning, 925 Harbor Plaza, Long Beach, 90802; or [email protected].
For more information, go to Pier S portal on the port’s Web site.
