COMMERCE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR RESULTS OF CVD INVESTIGATION

The U.S. Commerce Department has extended the time limit of the “preliminary determination” in the countervailing duty investigation of certain softwood lumber products from Canada to no later than Aug. 9.

On April 23, Commerce’s Import Administration and International Trade Administration initiated the CVD investigation, which was originally supposed to conclude July 27.

“The basis for our decision to take an additional 13 days is the same as set forth in the original extension notice as well as our need to ensure that the complex and voluminous information submitted to the Department can be fully analyzed,” Commerce said. “Accordingly, we continue to find this investigation to be extraordinarily complicated and determine that additional time is necessary to issue the preliminary determination.”
