The Commerce Department also said the Turkish government subsidizes these exports.
As a result, the Commerce Department will issue antidumping duty orders on imports of this product from South Korea and Turkey and a countervailing duty order on imports of this product from Turkey.
The Commerce Department said in its determination in early October that imports of welded line pipe from South Korea and Turkey were sold in the United States at dumping margins ranging from 2.53 percent to 6.19 percent and 6.66 percent to 22.95 percent, respectively. In addition, welded line pipe from Turkey received estimated countervailable subsidies from the Turkish government ranging from 1.31 percent to 152. 2 percent, the department said.
The petitioners for these investigations included the American Cast Iron Pipe Co. of Alabama; Energex, a division of JMC Steel Group, of Illinois; Maverick Tube Corp. in Texas; Northwest Pipe Co. of Washington; Stupp Corp., a division of Stupp Bros in Louisana; Tex-Tube Corp. of Texas; and Welspun Tubular LLC USA in Arkansas. The pipe is used widely in the oil and gas industry.
In 2014, imports of welded line pipe from South Korea and Turkey were valued at $543.6 million and $94.7 million, respectively.
