Compaq, the U.S. computer maker, has hired the logistics division of United Parcel Service to manage its North American service parts network.

Terms were not disclosed. Under the deal, UPS Logistics Group will manage transportation, parts inventory, field stocking, returns and order fulfillment for Compaq.

SonicAir, a UPS Logistics unit, will provide same day delivery service and field stocking for critical spare parts. SonicAir also will provide swap-outs and necessary repairs at Compaq customer locations.
