BNSF Railway announced last week construction has started on a 430-acre logistics center in Hudson, Colo.
Logistics Center Hudson, located about 30 miles northeast of downtown Denver, will have up to 15 customizable sites for customers wanting to ship via individual railcars and a unit train site for customers shipping entire trainloads. A 15,000-foot-long loop track will connect to the mainline in both directions, according to a video about the logistics center.
“The work being done now is preparing the property for tracks, access points of the roads, relocating any utilities, etc.,” said Joe Sloan, director of public affairs for BNSF Railway, in an email. “The loop track around the site, which will serve unit-train customers, is also part of the current construction.”
The logistics center is part of the Class I railway’s $65 million investment in Colorado in 2019, Sloan said.
BNSF Railway also has logistics centers in Oklahoma City; Fontana, Calif.; Sweetwater, Texas; and Wilmington, Ill.
“Establishing logistic centers, including the one in Hudson, is the latest way we are working to make sure new, existing and potential customers who want to locate on rail in a densely populated, growing industrial market have the option to do so,” said Colby Tanners, BNSF’s assistant vice president of economic development, in the press release.
