Container maker, Globe Tracker partner on Silk Road tracking products

Chinese container manufacturer CIMC and Globe Tracker have begun providing joint products to help companies with remote asset management on the route from China to Europe.    A technology subsidiary of the China International Marine Container Co. has partnered with tracking technology software provider Globe Tracker International to develop products for shipments moving from China to Europe.
   The products include so-called smart containers, smart logistics and smart terminal tools intended to help shippers and logistics service providers better track cargo along the historic Silk Road lane.
   The subsidiary, CIMC Internet of Mobile Things International Operation and Service Co., announced its partnership with Globe Tracker last year, and has produced smart containers for CIMC customers. CIMC’s Yangzhou Tonglee Special Container, Qingdao CIMC Special Reefer Co. Ltd and Nantong CIMC Transportation and Storage co, Ltd. are the first divisions within CIMC to be selling the smart products.
   “The goal is to have all CIMC divisions supplying the container shipping, trucking, railway and logistics industries with global tracking, monitoring and remote asset management services and equipment,” CIMC spokesperson Shouqin Zhou said. “Our immediate target is China’s One Belt One Road initiative (the overland route between China and Europe).”
   These CIMC smart products can be installed on all types of containers, as well as trucks, trailers, and railcars. The technology will also be installed on inland and marine wireless terminal infrastructure and other products that will benefit from global tracking, monitoring and remote asset management services.
